Tito Homem-de-Mello

Tito Homem-de-Mello is a Professor in the School of Business at Universidad Adolfo Ibañez, where he has taught courses in Operations Management and Business Analytics at the undergraduate, masters of science and MBA levels. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from University of São Paulo, Brazil. Prior to joining Universidad Adolfo Ibañez, he was a faculty member at Ohio State University and later at Northwestern University. His research focuses on optimization of systems under uncertainty. In particular, he studies theory and algorithms for stochastic optimization using sampling methods and applications in risk management, energy, and transportation, having published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in top international journals. Dr. Homem-de-Mello has been principal investigator of numerous grants, mostly sponsored by the National Science Foundation in the United States and by Conicyt in Chile. He is the recipient of Best Paper Awards from IIE Transactions (2012) and INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section (2007), and the winner of the George Nicholson student paper competition (1998).
